Brainstorming evaluation criteria

Assignment: Vision paper/PowerPoint/Prezi presentation (30 points)

Each student will prepare a paper of between 6 and 8 pages (not including reference pages) and a 10-minute PowerPoint/Prezi or other form of presentation.  This paper and presentation will consist of the individual student’s vision of American public schools in the year 2072.  The vision will include but not be limited to:

  1. Who the students will be
  2. What they will be taught
  3. Who the teachers will be
  4. What the best schools will look like
  5. Clear descriptions of the most significant changes that will take place
  6. Clear accounting for at least two significant challenges schools face today

Additional Guidelines and Checkpoints

  1.  Refer to presentation rubric in Canvas.
  2. Susan Montgomery, our Library liaison, will meet with us November 9 to provide an orientation to resources in Olin Library related to this assignment.
  3.  (Optional) Schedule individual appointment with me during the week of November 15-19 to discuss the structure of the paper and specific ways you plan to address challenges of the present day, in particular the challenges you wrote about in your second monthly essay.
  4. (Optional) Schedule second individual appointment with me during week of November 29-December 3 to discuss draft and essay rubric.
  5. Schedule two sessions with writing tutor in Writing Center (not required but highly recommended)
  6. November 15-19:  First session to share essay rubric and paper guidelines above.
  7. November 29-December 3:  Second session to edit draft (send to tutor in advance)
