The Archives & Special Collections

Preserving the history and legacy of Rollins College, Winter Park, and the Central Florida community.

About the Archives

The Department of Archives and Special Collections was founded in 1933 as the Department of College Archives. It was formally established in 1954 by the Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of President Hugh McKean. In 1985, it was merged with Special Collections. The Department's location changed several times until it was moved to its current location in the Olin Library in 1998.

Today, the Archives and Special Collections acquires, preserves, and makes accessible unique and rare materials documenting the history of Rollins College and the Central Florida community.

How can we help?

We welcome walk-ins and appointments during our open hours from members of the Rollins community and the general public. The Archives is available to answer any general or specialized research questions about the history of Rollins, Winter Park and the Central Florida area. We can also schedule a research visit with you and/or a group and assist you during your time on-site.

Our services include:

  • assisting with general/specialized research questions;
  • reviewing and accepting donations;
  • scheduling and reserving the Reading Room for a class, club meeting, and/or research visit;
  • mini tours in the Reading Room, and more!
