Paper Assignment

Research Paper

In your research paper, you will select a topic of your choice dealing with one film that reflects a contemporary social or cultural issue in one of the Middle Eastern societies under study in this course. You can find many MENA films on Kanopy (through Olin Library), the library collection, YouTube, Netflix, arabfilm.com, Amazon, or numerous other streaming sources. Your topic can be an issue related to the film you are already researching for your presentation, or something else if you like, but discussion of the film needs to be deeply embedded in a paper that also discusses the context.

  • Final paper should be at least 10 and no more than 14 pages, double-spaced, 12 pt. Times-Roman font.  For references, use either Chicago Manual of Style or MLA format (Good options include - Purdue University's Online Writing Lab website and the Olin Library's Citation Guide page)
