By law, you are entitled to one free credit report from the three major credit bureaus: Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. This is a federal government website, and it's the only one out there that lets you do this.

This site lets you know more about your credit, who has pulled your credit, and anything that has negatively influenced your credit. Please keep in mind that there some services that the credit bureaus may try to sell you outside of the free credit report.

Consumer Reports is a great place to go if you are buying something new. They have product reviews for pretty much every category, and their tests are known for being thorough.

To access Consumer Reports, go to our database LexisNexis Uni, and select "A Publication" under "What are you interested in?" Then type a search term in "Search for something specific" and "Consumer Reports" under "Find Publication." You're on your way!

You may be familiar with them from their college rankings, but U.S. News (as they're known) also has solid information on personal finance, credit cards, and other categories.

Wirecutter is the New York Times' answer to Consumer Reports. They are also known for their product reviews.
