The Society for American Archaeology (SAA) is an international organization dedicated to the research, interpretation, and protection of the archaeological heritage of the Americas.

The AIA promotes a vivid and informed public interest in the cultures and civilizations of the past, supports archaeological research, fosters the sound professional practice of archaeology, advocates the preservation of the world’s archaeological heritage, and represents the discipline in the wider world.

Founded in 1866, the Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology at Harvard University is one of the oldest museums devoted to anthropology.

Founded in 1887, Penn Museum has three gallery floors featuring materials from Egypt, Mesopotamia, Canaan and Israel, Mesoamerica, Asia and the ancient Mediterranean World, as well as artifacts from native peoples of the Americas and Africa.

Founded in 1882, the museum collection currently contains approximately 9,000 artifacts from ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, the Near East, and the ancient Americas.
