The 3Cs en Colombia: Conquistadores, Café, Cocaína

Resources about Colombia's history and culture and the 2022 Rollins Faculty-Staff Travel Seminar to visit this vibrant nation.

2022 Tars' Trip to Colombia

In the summer of 2022, 15 Rollins faculty and staff members particpated in "The 3Cs en Colombia: Conquistadores, Cafe, Cocaína." Led by Claire Strom (History), Susan Montgomery (Olin Library), and Ed Bustos (Admissions), this trip explored these different visions of Colombia and how they interact with each other in this vibrant South American nation.

These viajeros went to Colombia as part of the Center for Global Initiatives' Rollins Internationalization Grant (RIG) program, specifically the Faculty-Staff Travel Seminar. The purpose of this program is to enhance participant knowledge of Global Citizenship and key issues, build cross-campus and cross-cultural connections, and share this knowledge to help Rollins students begin their own Global Citizenship journey. All the participants undertook a competitive application process, and most presented on topics related to their areas of expertise and their intersection with Colombia, the fruits of which you see on this guide.

If you are a Rolins CLA or Holt student eager to explore the world, the Office of International Programs offers many opportunities for you to do so, as does Crummer for its students. There is plenty of global learning going on right here on campus, too!
