Interlibrary Loan Code
In adherence to US Copyright Law under the fair use provision (17 U.S.C. § 107), the so called library exemption (17 U.S.C. § 108), and the TEACH Act (17 U.S.C. § 110) of Federal copyright law and the Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States will govern all ILL transactions.

Copyright Introduction
Rollins College is committed to complying with all applicable United States (U.S.) copyright law.
This includes the full exercise of the rights accorded to users of copyrighted works under the
fair use provision (17 U.S.C. § 107), the so called library exemption (17 U.S.C. § 108), and the
TEACH Act (17 U.S.C. § 110) of Federal copyright law. To that end, the College shall inform and
educate its faculty, staff, and students about copyright law, their fair use rights and the
application of the four factors for determining those rights as set forth in 17 U.S.C. § 107, and
their rights and responsibilities according to §s 108 and 110.
The fair use clause provides generous, but not unlimited, provisions for the use of copyrighted
works in classroom settings. Students, faculty, and staff members are expected to comply with
copyright laws. Distribution of works protected by copyright without permission of the
copyright owner may be a violation of Federal or state law. It is the responsibility of those
reproducing copyrighted works, or asking other employees of Rollins College, or students to
reproduce copyrighted works, to make sure the reproduction is consistent with U.S. Copyright
Law.
Rollins College does not permit the unlawful reproduction or distribution of commercially
copyrighted music, movies, and software. The College is committed to taking reasonable steps
to avoid misuse of its computer network, including the unlawful reproduction or distribution of
copyrighted works via that network. If violations are discovered or suspected, College
Information Technology personnel may be required (17 U.S.C. §512) to report infringement to
the rights holder. Other actions that will be taken include, but are not limited to: warning the
user, removing the material, or terminating access to the material.

The Olin Library reserves the right to refrain from any activity related to ILL that may constitute a violation of the provisions of U.S. Copyright Law, the CONTU Guidelines, or any laws regarding the confidentiality of records.
ILL Conduct
No institution can hold all knowledge and so, in order to facilitate the information requests of patrons libraries participate in the Interlibrary Loan system. The efficiency of which depends on all of us! Please keep the below in mind when you receive your materials.
Be Kind - Treat your materials with the utmost care. Accidents can happen and if they do please notify the ILL department immediately. We will work with the lending institution to mitigate the issue. Even if an item is damaged it still needs to be returned. You wouldn't want to loan someone an item only for them to return it damaged without even saying a word about it!
Be Mindful - Return your items by the due date. Library materials do not automatically renew and are not always eligible for renewal. Please either request a renewal through your ILL account or notify the ILL Department and we will do our best to accommodate. And remember it's always better to return an item early than keep it after the due date. Doing this helps keep Rollins in good standing with other institutions.
Be Considerate - Remember to always leave the ILL label on your materials and return any accompanying items that came with your ILL item such as bookmarks (ex: UCF's new item bookmark), CDs, maps, etc. Remove any sticky notes or other personal notes you used to annotate prior to returning your ILL items. Doing so helps us quickly check in items and return them to their institutions in their original condition.
