Celebration of Rollins Scholarship 2023

Recognizing scholarly publications and creative works by the Rollins community

From the Office of the Provost

Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to introduce the 2023 Celebration of Faculty Scholarship. This program began in 2008, and honors those members of our scholarly community who have published peer reviewed books, articles, creative works, and other academic endeavors. We also recognize faculty who have received external funding through their research and scholarship efforts in the 2023 calendar year. Today we celebrate 64 reported submissions by faculty members from all departments and schools across our campus -- a truly extraordinary group.

At Rollins, we believe that being an active scholar informs our teaching and excellence in teaching stimulates new scholarship.  The best teachers are active scholars and creators who routinely incorporate their research into their teaching practice. The faculty represented here add to disciplinary knowledge, strengthens the academy, and supports the broad academic community at Rollins. Free scholarly inquiry is essential to both a vibrant liberal arts college and a healthy democracy. We celebrate the faculty’s commitment to unimpeded academic inquiry.

Please join me in offering congratulations to our faculty colleagues who uphold the Rollins tradition of excellence!

Best wishes,

From the Dean of the Library

Dear Colleagues,

In my opinion, the most exciting times within an academic year include gathering to celebrate academic inquiry, research, and scholarship. I am delighted that Olin Library has the opportunity to host the Celebration of Rollins Scholarship. It is a valuable chance to see the scholarship interests and outlets of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

As both researchers and attendees, I’m hopeful that you will go online and investigate the research and scholarly activity of Rollins College even further by visiting Rollins Scholarship Online (RSO). If you are presenting today, please consider uploading your work to RSO so that it can be discoverable worldwide. I hope that you enjoy your time at CRoS, viewing the wonderful scholarly output of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni. I look forward to discussing future Olin Library partnerships with you and your departments. To all participants that joined us for this active commemoration – Thank you!

Best wishes,
Derek Malone
