Data.gov
Large collections of datasets from various branches of the U.S. government. Click on the "Data" button at the top to find state data and some international datasets.
Datasets from Damodaran
A privately compiled, large list of US and international business data for industries, corporate governance, cash flow estimates, investment returns, and more.
EDGAR
Use EDGAR to gather the SEC filings for any U.S. and international company that trades on the U.S. Stock Exchange.

Euromonitor This link opens in a new window
This database can be used to build reports on a specific country's economic spending, both at the consumer level and national finance. Available only with Rollins log-in.

Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Statistics
These are two major statistical indicators tracked by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Click through to learn more details and to access charts, tables, and more.
Direction of Trade Statistics
This resource from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) "presents the value of merchandise exports and imports disaggregated according to a country's primary trading partners."
Foreign Direct Investment in the U.S.
From the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, this database provides both country and industry data.
FRED: Federal Reserve Economic Data
This is a great collection of links to economic data. Mostly U.S., but some international data. This is a user-friendly site.
Global Statistics from the United Nations
Lots of statistics, some of them are freely available.
ICPSR
Data archive of more than 500,000 files of research in the social sciences. It hosts 16 specialized collections of data in education, aging, criminal justice, substance abuse, terrorism, and other fields.
Industry Financial Ratios*
Enter the ticker of a company within your industry. You will retrieve a large number of ratios for the industry as a whole, as well as the major hitters in the industry.

With Country Trade Profiles, you get an excellent summary of the nation's principal exports, imports, top trading partners, balance of trade statistics, and more.

Investment Climate Statements
These statements are put out by the U.S. Department of State. They summarize the current issues, trends, and economic climate of particular countries as it relates to doing business.
OECD Factbook: Economic, Environmental, and Social Statistics*
Penn World Tables (for PPP data)
This database will let you gather stats for Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) for 189 countries for the years 1950 to 2007.
Statistics for Specific Industries*
Data from the Small Business Administration for seven major industries: Agriculture, Banking, Energy, Environment, Health & Safety, Housing, and Transportation. The site provides links to the major government statistical agencies for each industry.
